Jerry Jones CPA
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a CPA that you deal directly with, that understands your business, that works in all 50 states and is there for you when you need him?
“I am a small business owner operating an equipment distribution business in Fontana, CA. I feel fortunate to have known Jerry personally and professionally for over 22 years. Jerry was tempted to walk away when he first saw the mess I had created in growing my business, but he showed patience and persistence in getting our operation organized. Jerry has advised and assisted me with organizing our accounting system, business and personal planning, real estate acquisitions, major supplier negotiations, credit facilities and tax returns. His knowledge with the tax laws and requirements is quite reassuring. In short, I have known Jerry through good times and bad and he has proven to be a very valuable resource to the company and myself. If anyone has any questions, I would happy to talk to you and elaborate further”.

IRS Wants To Read You Your Rights (Albeit Symbolically)

The IRS has finally declared “A Taxpayers Bill of Rights” after years of prodding by taxpayer advocates and Congress. Nice gesture, but the IRS even acknowledged that they have no mechanism to make sure they are followed.

Only 46% of taxpayers believe they even have any rights. If you don’t know what your rights are, you will never avail yourself of them. The current IRS Commissioner admits that the bill of rights is intended to help restore battered taxpayer confidence in the tax system.

TAXPAYER BILL OF RIGHTS

The right to be informed – Including clear forms and instructions

The right to quality service – Example, taxpayers have the right to speak with an IRS supervisor if they are unsatisfied

The right to pay no more than the correct amount of tax

The right to challenge the IRS’s position and be heard – The IRS must consider taxpayers’ objections and documentation before taking action

The right to appeal an IRS decision in an independent forum – In addition to an internal appeals process taxpayers also have the right to take a dispute to court

The right to finality – There are time limits on IRS audits

The right to privacy – Meaning that IRS audits should be no more intrusive than necessary

The right to confidentiality – IRS employees who wrongly disclose taxpayer information could face criminal penalties

The right to obtain representation – If you can’t afford an attorney or accountant, assistance is available through Low Income Tax Clinics

The right to a fair and just tax system – Taxpayers have the right to receive assistance from the Taxpayer Advocate Service.

There you go, those are your rights. Not sure how they are going to help us, but at least we could put them in front of an auditor and make sure he/she reads them.
